James “Jimmy” Calvin Perry, 60, of East Bernard passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at a Richmond Hospital. He was born on March 6, 1958 in El Campo to the late James Calvin Perry and Marilyn Sue Kainer Perry. Jimmy was a longtime East Bernard resident. He attended schools in El Campo and graduated from El Campo High School in 1976. He married the love of his life, Virginia, on December 4, 1999 at 4:30 p.m. In 2001, Jimmy went to work for Tx Dept of Transportation as a Mechanic. He was a self-taught guitar player. He could even play Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Freebird”. He also enjoyed going for rides on his motorcycle with his favorite lady, Virginia. He likes fishing, camping, watching TV and playing with his dog. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Virginia Perry; sister Elizabeth Mazel and husband, Charles of El Campo and Ginger Karch and husband, Chris, of Wisconsin; nieces, Jennifer Socha and husband, Randy of Rosenberg and Mindy Kutach and husband, Ross of East Bernard; and nephew Caleb Karch; along with numerous friends and co-workers. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Wharton Funeral Home with Celebration of Life services beginning at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Pastor Sylvester Portillo officiating. Graveside services will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton TX. Serving as pallbearers were Keith Dornak, Mark Krenek, Pat Motl, Calvin Hillman, Darrin Mrkwa, Trey Hancock, Bandon Filla and Manuel “Shorty” Isaac.
