JerryGeraldRay     Mrs. Jerry Gerald Ray, age82, of Wharton, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018, in a Sugar Land memory care facility. She was born on June 11, 1936, in Gulf, Texas, a daughter of the late Henry McDowell and Elenore Ausburn Gerald. Jerry was raised in the Burr, Texas area and graduated from Boling High School. She continued her education with a bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University.  Jerry travelled world-wide and loved collecting art pieces from many different cultures.  Jerry became a Texas History teacher at Iago Jr. High School in the Boling ISD.  She enjoyed sharing with her students her passion for Texas History and her passion for travel.  She became an icon in the Wharton area for her positive impact on her students’ lives and for her generous, friendly, and compassionate nature. In her spare time, she enjoyed going antiquing and bargain shopping, being with her family, and visiting with her many friends. Jerry is survived by her son, Rawlin Ray and wife, Rhonda, of Rosharon, and sisters, Nevis Williams of Sherman,and Karen Gerald of El Campo. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 18 at 11o’clock am at the Boling Community Center in Boling. Those who are interested will be given a chance to share a memory of their time with Jerry. Lunch will be offered at the end of the Service.  Also, those who would like to bring their favorite appetizer, side dish, or dessert to share, are welcome to do so.  If desiring, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association in Jerry’s name, in lieu of flowers. Funeral services are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home
