Joe Jetelina Joe Jetelina, 87, of Lane City, TX, passed away on Wednesday evening, October 17, 2018 in a Richmond hospital following a sudden illness. Joe was born on October 28, 1930, in Tavener, Texas to the late Mathew and Marie Vaclavik Jetelina. Joe was raised in the Tavener, East Bernard and Lane City areas, attending area schools. He served our country Honorably in the United States Army earning his Discharge on January 6, 1956. He married Evelyn Barta on January 9, 1954 in East Bernard. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2016. Joe worked for many years as a farmer and rancher, then as a heavy equipment operator for several companies building roads and bridges. Joe enjoyed hard work and staying busy. He also enjoyed his garden and going fishing and oystering. Joe was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton. In addition to his parents and wife, Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Shimek, sisters, Elsie Andel, and Elenora Socha and brother John Jetelina. Joe Jetelina is survived by his son, Randall Jetelina and wife, Brenda of Wharton, daughters, Susan Hatch and husband, Bruce of West Columbia and Pat Sikora and husband, Dale of Hungerford, sister, Mary Sebesta and husband, Adolph of Spring, grandchildren Erin Andel and Darryl, Cody Hatch and Michele, Matthew Sikora and Kristen, Katie Ewing and Grant Haley Jetelina and Taylor Jetelina along with great grandchildren, Emilee, Quinn, Luke, Blaire, Mason, Jake and Coen. Visitation will be held on Monday afternoon, October 22 starting at 1 p.m. at Holy FamilyCatholic Church in Wharton with a Holy Rosary recited at 2 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 22 at 3 pm with Father Bob Knippenberg officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Military Honors are provided by members of Wharton American Legion Post 87 and VFW Post 4474 of Wharton. Serving as pallbearers will be Taylor Jetelina, Cody Hatch, Matthew Sikora, Bruce Hatch, Dale Sikora and Rick Shimek.
