John Dewey Bellows, Jr., 87, of East Bernard, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 8, 2018. He was born on March 13, 1931 in Houston, TX to the late John Dewey Bellows, Sr. and Nellie Izora Stefferiaur Bellows. John grew up in Houston and graduated from Reagan High School in 1949. He served our nation honorably in the US Air Force as a Radio Operator. He was a foreman in a manufacturing plant most of his life. In 1982, John was introduced to Barbara Ann Caulder and within 2 months they were married in a ceremony in Houston. After retiring, he drove a bus for Boling ISD until May 2005. He enjoyed going for walks, was great at making a bar-b-que brisket. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara Ann; daughters: Nancy Fritsche and husband, Thomas of Beaumont, Sally Contreras and husband, Robert of Eagle Lake and Jenny Smith and husband, Mike of Yoakum; sons: Allan Wayne Machann and wife, Charolette of Montgomery, Thomas Edward Machann and wife, Trish of Houston, John Wesley Bellows and wife, Lisa of San Antonio and Tony Travis and wife, Gayle of Bryan; 14 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 10th starting at 3 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held in Wharton, April 11th at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mike Smith officiating at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1101 Antoine Dr., Houston, TX 77055 at 2 p.m. Serving as pallbearers were: Allan Wayne Machann, James Smith, Tom Fritsche, Tommy Machann, Jon Contreras and Jose Longoria.
