Jose Ramirez
On Monday, February 17, 2025, Jose Ramirez passed away comfortably at home, at the age of 86, with his wife, Consuelo, by his side.
Born on August 27, 1938, in Glen Flora, Texas, Jose was the son of Sebastian and Natividad Lopez Ramirez.
Jose married Consuelo Cardenas on June 27, 1963, in Wharton, TX. They built their home in nearby Stafford and started a family soon thereafter. He began his career as a grinder operator at the Richmond Foundry and expanded to other areas such as construction, manufacturing, and chemical operations close to home.
He was an avid fisherman and enthusiastic NASCAR spectator, who enjoyed time outdoors, working in his garden, doing woodwork, playing pool, and tinkering in his garage. Jose’s kindness, humor, and gentle spirit will forever be cherished by those closest to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Julian, Guadalupe, Juan Ramirez, and Margarita Saenz.
Jose is survived by his wife, Consuelo Ramirez of Stafford, daughters, Anna Sharum and husband, Tom of Sugar Land, Norma Hall and husband, Steve of Sugar Land, Rebecca Howe of Stafford, Jacquelyn Schuley and husband, Scott of Houston, sons, Jerry Ramirez of Sugar Land and Christopher Ramirez of Cypress, brothers, Luis Ramirez and wife, Bonita of New Caney and Lazaro Nieto of Houston, sister, Maria Van Hoose of Lorain, Ohio and his precious grandchildren, Amanda Ramirez, Leigh Ellis, Lindsey Ramirez, Cody Ramirez and Courtney Ramirez.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 5 pm at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with rosary recited at 7 pm. Funeral Mass and the Rite of Committal will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton with Rev. Samuel Appiasi officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Pallbearers will be Jerry Ramirez, Christopher Ramirez, Scott Schuley, David Gonzales, Mark Gonzales, and Cody Ramirez.
