Joseph Pospisil, Jr.
Joseph Pospisil, Jr., 83, of Boling passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025 in his home. He was born on August 10, 1941, in Flatonia, Texas to the late Joseph Louis and Georgie Cernoch Pospisil.
Joe was the eldest of eight children. Shortly after he was born, his family moved to Boling where he attended school. Because he only spoke Czech, he was held back his first year. He learned English and was able to continue his education through the 12th grade. He married Kathryn O’Quinn on June 18, 1966. He adored his wife greatly and was devoted to providing for his family. He began his career at Texas Gulf Sulphur Company in 1967 and retired 27 years later when the company closed their doors in 1994. Starting a new chapter, he then worked at Central Turf Grass Farm for several years. Never one to be idle, he continued working well into his seventies.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing solitaire on his laptop, doing crossword puzzles, and being outdoors. He found peace while mowing the yard and working on engines. The locals referred to him as a “shade tree mechanic”. He also enjoyed watching old time westerns and cartoons with his grandchildren. He particularly liked the Tasmanian devil, the Wile E Coyote and the Road Runner. He loved listening to the music of Patsy Cline. He was very devoted to his faith in God. Joe and Kathryn have attended Abundant Life Wharton since 1971. Over the years, Joe was involved in every aspect of the church and served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings Georgia, Zigmund, Gilbert, and Anton (Tony) Pospisil. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Kathryn Pospisil.
