Jovita G. Cardenas
Mrs. Jovita G Cardenas, age 98, a cherished member of the Stafford community and formerly of Wharton, passed away, leaving a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her. Born in Mexico on March 26, 1926, to the late Juan Manuel Gonzalez and Eufracia Salinas Gonzalez.
Jovita was known for her incredible culinary skills - her dishes bringing joy to countless gatherings and events. Her love for the outdoors saw her tending to her yard with passion and taking leisurely walks in the neighborhood. She had a deep appreciation for music, often dancing with grace and laughter filling the room. The beach was her sanctuary, where she found peace and solace in the gentle waves and golden sands. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Cardenas.
Jovita is survived by her daughters, Consuelo Ramirez and husband, Jose of Stafford, TX, Maria A. Gonzales and husband Jose R. of Stafford, Tx and Emma Merlos and husband, Jesse of Stafford and son, Jesse Gonzalez of Alabama; brother, Margarito Montes of Rio Grande; 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Along with numerous nieces and nephews and close family friends.
Visitation will be held at Wharton Funeral Home on September 9, 2024, starting at 5:00 pm with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic in Wharton, Tx with Father Robert Guerra officiating. A Rite of Burial and committal will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Dario Merlos, Travis Merlos, Jerry Ramirez, Christopher Ramirez, David Gonzales and Marcus Gonzales.
May her spirit find eternal peace, and her memory continue to inspire all who carry her in their hearts.
