Julia DeLeon, 79, of Wharton and formerly of Boling, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at a Wharton nursing center following a lengthy illness. Julia was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1939 in Wharton to the late Julian and Frances Aguero Cruz.

 

Julia was raised in the Wharton area and attended Wharton schools. She later attended Cosmetology school in the San Antonio area. She married Joe DeLeon on July 20, 1974 and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1992. Julia worked for HEB for many years in the meat department and later, worked styling hair for many years. She enjoyed fishing, playing chalupa and celebrating her birthday and Christmas.

 

Julia is survived by her children, Danielle Cardenas and husband, Ralph Castro of Wharton, Joe Julian DeLeon of Wharton and Paul Anthony DeLeon of San Antonio, sister, Frances Cruz Cerrillo, brother, Pete Cruz and wife Elizabeth of Dallas, grandchildren, Brandon Galabeas, Christian Castro, Phoenix Castro, Isabella Castro, Adrian DeLeon, Destiny DeLeon and Eric Gomez DeLeon and great grandchild, Divinity.

 

Following cremation, memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 14 at Mt Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton with Fr Bob Knippenberg at 11:30 am.

 

Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.  Condolences may be left at  whartonfuneralhome.com.
