Lee Rosezell Peikert Giesie, 86 of Wharton TX, passed away on June 11, 2024. She was born on November 21, 1937, in Bonus, TX to parents Jim and Leona Lewis Peikert. The family soon moved to Egypt, TX to the Peikert farm. During these times, Rosezell learned the meaning of family, hard work, and giving while growing up in a Christian family. Rosezell graduated from Crescent High School in 1957 where she played basketball and volleyball. On June 8, 1957, in Eagle Lake, TX, she married Ernest Giesie, who she met at Bonus Baptist Church. On June 8, 2024, the two celebrated 67 years of marriage with family.
In addition to raising three kids, Rosezell worked various jobs, loved working in the yard, crafts, church, dancing, singing, Elvis, and collecting Barbie dolls. In her later years, Rosezell published two children’s books, Amos the Alligator and Boots and Patches, based on stories about her childhood.
She is survived by her husband. Ernest Louis Giesie, daughters Brenda Krenek and husband Robert Krenek Jr, of Wharton, Carla Jesseph from New Braunfels, and son Logan Giesie of Santa Ana, CA. Grandchildren Brittany Krenek, Lauren Krenek, Kayla Buffington, and husband Garrett. Shaina Freese and husband Riley, Tate Lowe, and Lana Jesseph. Great Grandchildren Madison Brod, Weston Hauff, Ella Buffington, Lola Buffington, Lakyn Freese, and Hudson Freese. She is also survived by her brothers, Gordon Peikert, and wife Margie, Allan Peikert and wife Martha Lynn, and sister, Loretta Johnson.
Rosezell was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bennie ‘Ben’ Peikert, Dennis Peikert, Kenneth Peikert, and infant brother and sister James Jr and Esther Peikert.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 4:00 pm Wharton Funeral Home. Services will be by Pastor Kenny Hibbs of College Heights Baptist Church. The graveside service will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Wharton, TX. A reception and dinner will be served at College Heights Baptist Church. Serving as Pallbearers are Tate Lowe, Kevin Peikert, Allan D. Peikert, Chris Peikert, BJ Peikert, Jason Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers are her other nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great children.
Special people in her life were Meta Gavranovic, Lucy Ustynik, and Barbara Kurtz.
