Lorine Marie York Lorine Marie York, 92, of Wharton, Texas passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at a New Braunfels nursing center. She was born in Violet, Texas on January 17, 1927, a daughter of the late Edwin Ben and Irene Henrietta Ordner Hoelscher. Lorine was raised in the Corpus Christi area and graduated from Calallen High School. She married John Louis York on February 11, 1947, in Violet, Texas. Lorine worked as a credit manager for Sears and Roebuck in Wharton. She enjoyed playing softball, Skip Bo, dancing and crocheting as well as guiding youth as a 4-H Leader. She was a talented baker as well, making many wedding cakes over the years for many lucky couples. She was also very active in the Catholic Daughters of America, where she was a Charter Member. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Gertrude Gadjos and Helen Pugh, brothers, Alvin Hoelscher, Joseph Hoelscher and her twin brother, Leon Hoelscher and grandson, Clay Joines. Lorine is survived by her children, John L. York, Jr. and wife, Betty of Houston, Marjorie McClellan and husband, Jack of San Antonio, C. Ed York and wife, Dr. Margie York of Myra, and Carolyn Joines of Wharton, brother, Sylvester Hoelscher of Robstown, 13 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 27 after 9 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with a Catholic Daughters Rosary recited at 9:30 am followed by Mass at 10 am with Father Bob Knippenberg celebrating. The Rite of Committal and burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers are Johnathan York, Richard Mason, Robert York, Matthew York, Dr. Christopher York, Alex York and Cole Joines. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Catholic Daughters of America. Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
