Lowe Freitag

   Lowe Freitag, Sr. June 8, 1928 – June 5, 2019   Lowe Freitag, Sr., 90, a longtime resident of Wharton, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at a Hillje nursing center following a sudden illness.  He was born June 8, 1928 near Hempstead, Texas to the late Willie and Lucille Freitag.    Lowe was raised in the Sunnyside area near Hempstead.  He graduated from Hempstead High School where he exceled in sports, especially baseball.  Following high school, he served our country honorably in the United States Army.  Lowe is a Korean War Veteran.  Lowe married Violet Miller on June 14, 1949 in Hempstead, Texas.  She preceded him in death on April 2, 2015.  He enjoyed playing baseball and was very good, playing semi pro ball for a short time.  Lowe and Violet moved to Wharton and he began a career in sales with S.L. Miori Company.  Lowe was very involved with the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving as Commander for both organizations many years.  He was also very active in his church, St. Paul Lutheran.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille White and Loraine Barry, as well as his brother-in-law, Delmar Barry.  Lowe is also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Vickie Freitag.             Lowe is survived by his children, Letha Freitag of Wharton and Lowe Freitag, Jr. and wife, Shelley of Bellville, grandchildren, Brian Freitag and wife, Gabby, Kyle Freitag and wife, Megan, Lisa Freitag, William C. Greene and wife, Sarah and Cameron Greene and great grandchildren, Vivienne Lee and Georgia Reese Freitag.   Pallbearers will be Brian Freitag, Kyle Freitag, William C. Greene, Cameron Greene, Gary Miller and Irving Gomez.  Honorary pallbearers will be his former co-workers and customers who have lifted him up for all these many years.  The family would like to thank the staff at SPJST Hillje, Texas for the care and love he received there.             Following cremation, service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Wharton, Texas.  There will be a private burial.   Funeral Services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.  Condolences may be left at whartonfuneralhome.com.
