Lucinda Belasquez, 83, of Wharton, Texas, passed away in a Wharton nursing center on Monday, August 30, 2021. She was born on February 9, 1938 in Wharton to the late Alfredo and Benarda Alcorta Gusman.
Lucinda attended Wharton schools. She married the love of her life, Carmel “Star” Belasquez on August 24, 1961. He preceded her in death in August 2004. Lucinda worked for many years as a waitress at Larrys Restaurant in Wharton and she also worked as a private home health provider. She loved to play Bingo, go to the casinos, and take care of her daughter, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Teresa Gusman Ramirez and brother Richard Guzman.
Lucinda is survived by her daughter, Marla Jane Belasquez Martinez and husband, Larry of Wharton, sister, Connie Correa of Colona, Ill, grandchildren, Marley Alcalar and Matthew Alcalar and wife, Jennifer, great grandchildren, Madeline Polina, Mia Polina, Camila Vargas and Matthew Alcalar, Jr., with one more on the way.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 3 at the Wharton Funeral Home after 10 am, with funeral services being held at 11 am at the Funeral Home with Deacon David Valdez officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
