As a dedicated housewife, Lucy embraced her family with an unwavering love and devotion. She met her husband, Guadalupe Mata, at a dance where he played in the band, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership built on love and shared experiences. Together, they raised a family filled with pride and cherished memories. In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Mata and her sister, Janie Garza.

Lucy leaves behind her loving husband of 56 years, Guadalupe Mata of Wharton; sons, Victor Mata and wife, Dominga of Wharton and Brian Mata; grandchildren, Laura Granadoz, Alahna Delgado and Angel Delgado; and her sisters, Sarah Cortez, Virginia Villareal, Esther Zavala, Isabel Mata, and Betty Zavala.
