Lydia Elizabeth Guajardo, 76, of Wharton, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018. She was born in Newgulf, Texas on September 28, 1941 to the late Erasmo Armendariz and Josephine “Manuelita” Rodriguez. Lydia grew up in the Newgulf area and moved to Wharton where she attended school. She married Edward Guajardo from Austin, TX on August 7, 1964. With a Teacher’s Certification through Texas A&M-Prairie View; Lydia instilled her passion for Cosmetology and inspired students at both Wharton and Sealy ISD, until retiring in 2001. Lydia was always “dressed to the nines”, if her Mother wasn’t sewing her clothes, you would find Lydia shopping. She loved traveling, celebrating family events and keeping her home in order. Always wanting to be 1st, she is survived by her husband of 53 years, Edward; their daughter, Melissa and Lydia’s sister, Rachel Lackey of Wharton. Along with numerous family and friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17th starting at 6 p.m. at the Wharton Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 18th at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Deacon David Valdez officiating.
