Lyndon Dale Pinson, 76, of Wharton, TX passed away Thursday morning, April 19, 2018 at a Houston hospital. He was born on May 18, 1941 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Walter Dewart and Lillian Elkins Pinson. Lyndon was raised in South Texas and graduated from Tivoli High School. He later graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Masters’ degree. Lyndon began his teaching career in 1965 at Wharton County Junior College in Wharton. He was a professor of Microbiology and later, Geology. Lyndon was an avid NASCAR fan; actually, he enjoyed anything that moved fast, from the Blue Angels to his favorite painting subject, waterfowl. Lyndon also enjoyed playing and watching basketball, and college football, especially the Sam Houston Bearkats, Texas A&M Aggies and the Navy Midshipmen. He was also a classic car enthusiast, with a vast knowledge of many makes and models. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Melba Harden and brother Wayne Pinson. Lyndon is survived by his daughters, Natalie Stavinoha and husband, Danny of East Bernard and Nanette Deaton and husband, Andrew of Georgetown, and sons, Nicholas Pinson and wife, Jenny, of Boise, Idaho, and Jordan and Ryan Pinson, sister, Margaret Spitzer and husband, Howard, brother John Pinson and wife, Beth all of Corpus Christi, grandchildren, Carl Stavinoha, Barrett Stavinoha, Whitney Stavinoha, Macy Mackay, Duncan Mackay, Preston Mackay, Lily Pinson and Laurel Pinson. Following cremation, Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home at 3pm with Rev. Lindsey Smith officiating.
