OBITUARY Marcos E. Tijerina Marcos Estrada Tijerina, was born on October 7, 1940 in Wharton, Texas. He was the son of the late Alberto Tijerina Sr. of the Rio Grande Valley and Maria Estrada Tijerina, of Corsicana, Texas. Marcos was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas and was the second of 15 children. He attended school in and near Corpus Christi, Texas and then later, in Houston, Texas. On November 10, 1963, he and his wife Eva Gomez Tijerina were married. They made their home in Wharton, Texas. Marcos was an auto paint and body man for many years. He and his wife were also the dealers of the Shell station in Wharton. Eventually he went to work for a lumber supply company before retiring. He and his wife were married for 55 years and they attended College Heights Baptist Church together. Marcos came from a musically inclined family and he loved playing music on his accordion. He also loved telling jokes. On April 15, 2019, Marcos passed away while in the hospital, following a surgery. He was 78 years old. In addition to his parents, three infant sisters, Olivia Tijerina, Leonarda Tijerina, and Maria Elia Tijerina, preceded Marcos in death. He is survived by his wife, Eva Tijerina of Wharton, Texas and children, Marc Tijerina Jr. and wife, Stephanie, Rebecca Stieb and husband, Paul, Terry Tijerina and wife, Veronica, and Maggie Mejorado, all of Wharton, Texas; brothers, Albert Tijerina Jr. and wife Amelia, Joe Tijerina and wife, Helen, all of Wharton, Texas, Arthur Tijerina and wife Mary of Plano, Texas, and Lee Tijerina and wife, Beatrice of Torrance, California; sisters, Lidia Tijerina Rodriguez of Rosenberg, Texas, Annie Hernandez, Mary Arriaga, and Elizabeth Rodriguez all of Wharton, Texas, Olga Cuevas and husband Israel of Angleton, Texas, Herlinda Tijerina of Bay City, Texas, and Rebecca Marin of George West, Texas; eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, along with several nieces, and nephews.
