Margaret M. Castro passed into the arms of the Lord on August 31, 2021 at a Wharton nursing home under hospice care.  She was born on February 22, 1942 to the late Paulita Salazar and Francisco Castro in Fulshear, TX.

Margaret was a lifelong resident of Wharton and she graduated from Wharton High School in 1962.  Margaret worked for 3 different hardware stores throughout her life.  First with Cozier’s Hardware, then with Klea’s Hardware and last with Ace Hardware until the owners retired.  One thing for sure, Margaret knew her hardware!  Margaret will always be fondly remembered for starting the Castro family reunion in 1991, that is still present as of today.  She loved being with family, friends and watching her novelas and cowboy shows.  Margaret liked dancing and traveling.  She has traveled to Toronto, Ontario Canada, Niagara Falls, Mexico City to visit “Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine” and went to Rome to see the Vatican.  She was a member of the Guadalupanos at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Paulita and Francisco Castro, siblings, Genaro Castro, Hiaro Castro and Francisca Trevino.

She is survived by sisters, Maria Gomez, Cathy Perez and Andrea Davila and brothers, Estefan Castro and Juan Castro. Along with many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Wednesday September 8th at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Wharton,TX.  Rosary will be said at 10:30 A.M. and her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M.  Interment will follow at Crescent Cemetery in Glen Flora. Serving as pallbearers are Lupe Gomez, Jr., Ralph Castro, Jonathan Longoria, Joshua Castro, Philip Castro, Gilbert Castro, Larry Castro & Vincent Jimenez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew Gomez, Adam Gomez, Natalyn Gomez, Lola Davila, Dolores Trevino, Lorraine Gonzales, Luis Cabrera, Paula Longoria, Angie Perez, Danielle Cardenas & Lola Montes.
