Marge Hlavinka

August 21, 1932 – March 5, 2022

Heaven rejoiced on Saturday, March 5, 2022, as Marge Hlavinka, 89, of East Bernard closed her eyes and woke up in heaven to be greeted by Our Lord and her family. Marge was born on August 21, 1932, in Sealy, Texas, to the late Frank and Pauline Dzierzanowski Surovcak.

Marge was reared in Sealy and graduated from Sealy High School. She married Henry Hlavinka on April 8, 1951, in Sealy. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2015. Marge was a long-time resident of East Bernard where she was an avid reader of non-fiction murder mysteries, a crossword puzzle expert, and loved growing daylilies, traveling and dressing dolls for the Church Bazaar. She was especially proud to be a member of the East Bernard Czech Singers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Frank Survocak and brother-in-law Harlon Gaskill.

She is survived by her daughter Peggy Sevuktekin, sons Hank Hlavinka (Becca) and Jason Hlavinka (Linda) all of East Bernard, sisters Frances Gaskill of Dalhart and Joan Stuessel and husband Harvey of Sealy, grandchildren Keven Sevuktekin, Hal Hlavinka (Jennifer Sale), Lindsay (Adam Bush), Megan (Nick Wenker) and Jonathan Hlavinka.

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 10 at 9:00am at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Rosary will be recited at 10:30 followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00am. Entombment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.
