Mark Anthony Longoria, age 47, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones to be with the Lord on February 11, 2024 in Wharton, TX following a lengthy illness. Mark was born on October 28, 1976 in Wharton, TX to Carmen Longoria and the late Marcus Longoria.
Mark graduated from Boling High School in 1995, and then went on to study Fine Arts at The University of Texas at Austin, where he was also a proud member of the Longhorn Band. After graduating with his Master’s Degree in Fine Arts, he started his first job at Bay City ISD as the High School Assistant Band Director, kickstarting a 24 year career that led him to become the Director of Bands for Bay City ISD. Mark was a devoted educator who truly loved music and sharing that love for music with his students, leaving a long-lasting impact. He loved trips to the casino, Bingo nights, and all the fun times with friends.
Mark is survived by his mother, Carmen Longoria, brother and wife, Philip & Chandra Longoria, niece and nephew, Caylee and Carson Longoria, and grandmother, Mamie Silvas, Aunts Rosa Morris and husband, Michael, Gloria Duncan and husband, Mark, Diana Rodriguez and husband, Alex, Isabel Llanes, Minnie Gomez and husband, Richard, Mary Longoria and husband, Henry, Juanita Llanes and Lori Enriquez and husband, Eloy, Uncles Refugio Silvas, Jr., George Silvas, Sr and wife, Sue, Gilbert Silvas and wife, Brenda, Rudy Llanes and wife, Martha, Chris Llanes and wife, Maria, Michael Llanes, Leroy Longoria, Richard Longoria, and Larry Longoria along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Marcus Longoria, grandparents, Crescencio and Ramona LLanes, Frank Longoria and Refugio Silvas, Sr his step grand father.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 11 am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton.
Funeral services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
