Marvin Lee Frizzell

January 1, 1946 — February 9, 2025

Garden City Kansas

Marvin Lee Frizzell of Garden City, Kansas passed away on February 9, 2025 at the age of 79, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas with his family at his bedside. Marvin was born on January 10, 1946 in Garden City, Kansas.

Marvin is survived by his children, Jason Owston and Stacey of Kempner, TX and Jennifer Fojtik and Jerry of Hungerford, TX; Grandchildren, Ashley Wilson and Jonathan, Nathan Owston, and Haley Fojtik; Great grandchildren, Everly and Blaire Wilson; and many nephews and nieces.

Marvin is preceded in death by his mother Buelah Clayton; Sisters Kathy Richman and Marsha Mathias; and granddaughter Aubrie Owston.

He spent his early childhood in Arkansas City, Kansas living with his grandparents James Glendon (Shorty) and Stella Frizzell. He often exclaimed this to be the best childhood he could ever dream of, spending sun up to sun down with his best childhood friend on the riverbanks often fishing and hunting for their family's supper. After his grandfather passed away, his grandmother and he moved to Garden City so that his mother could help with his aging grandmother. Marvin wasn't pleased with this move to the "big city" as he missed his best friend and the wilderness he loved so much in Arkansas City. It didn't take long for Marvin to adjust and was then raised by his mother and step father Roy Clayton, along with his two sisters. Very quickly Marvin began to love Garden City and never wanted to leave his many friends, family, and loved ones. Marvin attended Arkansas City Elementary school and Garden City Schools and graduated from Pierceville High School.

After graduating from high school, Marvin enlisted in the Navy and proudly defended our country in the Vietnam War.

After he was honorably discharged from the Navy, Marvin spent all of his working life as a very talented brick mason. He was proud to show his family his craftsmanship of the many beautiful homes and businesses that he laid brick, block, stone, and stucco on in Garden City and the surrounding areas.

Marvin enjoyed everything outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gun enthusiast. He also enjoyed collecting knives and flashlights. On beautiful days you could find Marvin cruising to the coffee shop, local grocery store, or the Lee Richardson Zoo on his E-Bike.

Marvin's ultimate love was his family that he was so proud of and loved spending time with. He also had many friends that he loved to visit with. He was known to be fun and loved to laugh. He was such a great listener, and always had a way of making everyone feel special. Marvin is leaving behind family and friends that think the world of him!

Marvin loved life and marched to the beat of his own drum. He didn't take things too seriously and always knew things would work out.

Marvin's Funeral Service will be held at the First Christian Church in Garden City, Kansas on February 22, 2025 at 2pm with Pastor Don Warren officiating followed by a burial at the Valley View Cemetery.
