Mary Lopez

In Loving Memory Of  Mary Lopez August 3rd, 1933 ~ May 26th, 2019   Mary Lopez passed into the arms of the Lord on May 26th, 2019 at Harbor Hospice in Houston, Texas surrounded by her family. She was born August 3rd, 1933 in New Gulf, Texas to Lorenzo Mireles and Florencia Lopez Mireles.   Mary was raised in the New Gulf and attended school in Boling.  She loved Dancing, her grandkids, gardening, and baking, she was particularly known for her polvorones cookies and German chocolate cake.  She was known to have the house where everyone who knew her wanted to go to, and was an active participant in the senior citizens group at Wharton County Junior College.           She is survived by her daughters, Florence Hernandez, Alice Martinez, Lydia Mata, and Debbi Abbott; Sons, Leonard Lopez, Jr., Victor Lopez, Frankie Lopez, and David  Lopez; Sisters, Lilly Alvarado, Laura Soliz, and Maggie Perez; Brothers, Lorenzo “Larry” Mireles, Jessie Mireles, Richard Mireles, and Paul “Mousie” Mireles; Grandchildren, Valerie Torres, Emmy Taylor, John Paul Lopez, Shelly Lemke, Teddy Joe Lopez, Jennifer Lopez, Rose “Mandy” Sanchez, Joey Lopez, Brandi Pena, Jason Acosta, Nicholas Abbott, and Crystal Cruz; as well as 23 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren.  She is proceeded in Death by her husband Leonard D. Lopez, Sister Julia Mireles, and brothers Pete Mireles, Sr., Juan Mireles, and twin brother Joe Mireles.   Visitation will be held at Wharton Funeral home on Wednesday, May 29th, 2019 at 5:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm.  Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mt Carmel on Thursday, May 30th, 2019 at 10:30 am. Serving as Pallbearers will be John Paul Lopez, Joey Lopez, Teddy Joe Lopez, Jason Acosta, Jonathan Oros, and Nicholas Abbott.       Funeral services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
