Mercedies Corona, 28, of Wharton, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 18, 2021. She was born on April 9, 1993 in Clute, Texas, to Pedro and Elizabeth Mendiola Corona. She leaves behind her husband, Luis Ortiz, five young children, Nayeli Herrera, Jocylynn Stephens, Mikaela Ortiz, Ezekiel Stephens and Luis Ortiz, Jr., parents, Elizabeth Mendiola and Pedro Corona, in-laws, Ricardo and Juanita Ortiz, grandparents, Frank and Janie Mendiola, sisters, Amanda Corona, Carmen Corona, brothers, Alejandro Corona and wife, Brianna, Jose Corona and wife, Teresa and Pete Corona, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021after 5pm at Wharton Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 7pm. Funeral Mass and Rite of committal will be held on Thursday, July 29, at 10 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
