Our beloved Miguel “Mike” Aguilar, 76, of Wharton, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 13, 2018. He was born on May 8, 1942 in Marshall, Michigan to the late Teodoro and Vicenta Bernal Aguilar. He married Mary Hernandez on September 18, 1964 and she preceded him in death on June 22, 2002. Together they had one son, Martin. Mike liked listening to conjunto music, dancing, playing cards and dominoes. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren,they were the light of his life. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and loved watching all sports, especially football and baseball. He coached Wharton Babe Ruth Baseball in the 1980’s and touched the lives of many young men. Mike worked for Wharton ISD, Leedo’s Cabinets and WKM. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and a 3rddegree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary, loving parents, Teodoro and Vicenta Aguilar, brothers, Teodoro Aguilar, Antonio Aguilar, Jesse Aguilar, & Juan Aguilar, sisters, Carmen Sanchez, Herminia Ferrel, and Ofelia Mendoza. He is survived by his son, Martin Aguilar and wife, Vicky of El Campo; sister, Linda Pasohondo; and grandchildren: Krista Aguilar, Jesse Aguilar, Aaron Aguilar and Deanna Aguilar, numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren, along with many friends. Visitation will begin on Sunday, September 16, 2018 starting at 5 PM at Wharton Funeral Home with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10 AM with Deacon David Valdez. Serving as pallbearers are Jesse Aguilar, Aaron Aguilar, Michael Hernandez, Nat Martinez.
