Paula Garcia Paula Garcia, 97, of Sugar Land and formerly of Wharton passed away at her home on August 30, 2018. She was born on January 26, 1921 in Pleasanton, TX to the late Daniel DeLeon and Dolores Lopez DeLeon. Paula attended schools in Pleasanton. She married the love of her life, Selestino Garcia on September 25, 1942 and together they had 7 daughters and 1 son. He preceded her in death in 2013. Paula was a homemaker all of her life and she took great pride in her family. She really enjoyed hanging out with her grandkids. She loved to bake and when birthdays came around the family looked forward to having one of her special cakes. She was also known an exceptional seamstress. She enjoyed all the family gatherings and listening to music. In addition to her parents and her husband, Selestino, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Linda Chavarria; great grandson: Justin Delval. She is survived by her daughters: Adeline Luna of Katy, Anna Ramirez and husband, Frank of Rosenberg; Lupe Garza and husband, Leo of League City, Dora Mata and husband, Joe of Houston, Amelia Garcia of Sugar Land and Elvira Rodriguez and husband, Jesse of Wharton; Son: Rick Garcia of Sugar Land; sister: Mary Smith and husband, James of New Gulf,18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 starting at 5 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 2 p.m. with Father Antonio Perez officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral Services are under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
