Pedro A. Moreno, Sr., 74, of Wharton, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at a Richmond skilled care center. He was born in McAllen, Texas on May 9, 1944, a son of the late Gregorio and Maria Elena Acevedo Moreno. Pedro was raised in the McAllen area and attended school there. He married Angela Medina Aviles in 2007. Pedro worked for King Fisher as a dredger for many years. He enjoyed fishing, being with his family, enjoyed staying busy doing “Mechanical Things” and was known as a handyman. Pedro had a love for animals that he often shared with anybody that would listen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Alberto and Sylvester Moreno and his granddaughter, Alexis Marie Munoz. Pedro is survived by his wife, Angela Moreno of Wharton, daughter, Elizabeth Lynette Moreno of Port Lavaca, step daughter, Sandra Velazquez of Mexico City, and Elizabeth Velazquez of Wharton, son, Pedro Moreno, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, FL, step sons, Luis Velazquez and Javier Velazquez both of Wharton, Step son in law: Homero Vazquez; Step Daughter in law: Rosie Velazquez, sister-in-law, Maria Luisa Bernal, grandchild, Bianca Nicole Munoz, step grandchildren: Yvette Vazquez, Allison Vazquez, Jaciel Vazquez, Homero Vazquez, Daniel Ordaz, Jorge Velazquez, and Nayeli Velazquez. Following cremation, the Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal will be celebrated on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 506 S. East Ave, Wharton, TX 77488.
