Raymond Christian (R.C.) Albert, Jr., 84, of Wharton, Texas, passed away, Thursday, July 11, 2019 at his home surrounded by close family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 13 at St Paul Lutheran Church 835 N. East Ave., Wharton TX 77488. The burial will follow at Wharton Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Wharton Funeral Home.
RC was born on March 9, 1935 in Poth, Texas to Raymond Christian and Hedwig (Gerhardt) Albert, Sr. He graduated from Poth High School in 1953 and from the Texas A&I University of Kingsville in 1966. On June 3, 1962, he married Edith Marie Boerger in Wharton. RC was in the Air Force from 1958-1964. He was employed as a school teacher for twenty years and later he owned a feed store for 14 years. He enjoyed raising chickens, turkeys, peacocks, rabbits, hogs, sheep, cattle & horses; basically, if it had legs, he raised it. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He especially liked meeting new people and getting to know them, and he never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Marie Chumchal.
RC is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Edith, daughter, Cheryl Lynne Rogers and husband, Mark of Palestine, sons, Raymond Lewis Albert and wife, Donna of Wharton and Howard Wayne Albert and wife, Sonia of Wharton, loving grandchildren Christina Rogers, Jared Rogers and wife, Katrina, Jenna Rogers, Carly Hinze and husband, Wyatt, Skylar, Hayden, and Tate Albert; and great grandchildren Lexi, Tyler, Jordyn, Waylon and Addelyn Rogers. He is also survived by his brother in law, Lanier Chumchal, a niece and several nephews. RC was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and enjoyed sharing stories with everyone.
A special thank you to Linda Driscoll and Aretha Washington at Altus Hospice for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Wharton Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
