Rebecca "Christy" Garza

Rebecca “Christy” Garza, 49 of Wharton, quietly passed into the arms of the Lord on January 18, 2021. She was born December 21, 1971 in Bay City, Tx to the late Frank Garza and Reynalda Lopez.

Raised in the Wharton area, she attended and graduated from Wharton High School.  She later moved to Brenham and managed a wonderful home raising her children.  She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Christy was truly devoted to family and her grandchildren were the love of her life.  She loved to spend time with them and create special memories.  When not spending time with her family, she would be playing Chalupa (Mexican Bingo) or cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Garza and Reynalda Lopez, as well as her brothers Joe Garza and Pete Garza.   

She is survived by her boyfriend, Albert Preston of Wharton; along with her children, Angelica Garza of Wharton, Michelle Essani of Cypress, Aisha Essani of Cypress, Ash Essani of Houston, and the father of her children Eric Essani from Cypress.  Siblings include her sister, Belinda Jimenez, and her brothers Robert Lopez, Juan Garza, Frank Garza, Jr. all of Wharton.  Her grandchildren are Aden Garza, Anaya Essani, Amir Essani and Alexander Essani.  

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2021 starting at 5pm with a Holy Rosary recited at 7pm at Wharton Funeral Home .  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel with Father Antonio Perez officiating.  A Rite of Commitment and Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
