Robert "Bob" Mack Harrison

Robert Mack Harrison          Robert (Bob) Mack Harrison, 89, of Richmond, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 27, 2019.  He was born February 1, 1929 in Crooked River, near Lakeland, Florida to the late Edgar Morgan Harrison and Gladys Davis Harrison, and was raised in the Ft. Myers area from the age of 2. He married Wanda Wheaton on April 2, 1949 in North Augusta, South Carolina as they started their long military life together. Bob proudly served in the United States Army for over 29 years and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer. He also served in the Drug Enforcement Agency and earned his Master’s Degree in History from Florida International University. Bob and Wanda served as Red Cross volunteers for over 25 years in Southern Florida and moved to Texas in 2011 to be closer to family. Bob lost Wanda, the love of his life on May 24, 2016 after 67 years of marriage. Bob enjoyed caring for his favorite orchid, enjoyed watching and reading Western novels, baking dishes for family and watching cooking shows. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by his sister Juanita Jones and his brother James Harrison, both of Florida. Bob was a loving father to his daughter Roberta Raine Harrison of Portland, OR, son Richard K. Harrison and wife Susan Duyka Harrison and grandson Russell K. Harrison of Richmond, TX. He was also a loving uncle to his sister and brother’s children: Gwen Wilson of Plantation, FL, Sharon Staude of Denver, CO,Mackie Harrison of Oxford, MS and Eddie Harrison of Ft. Myers, FL. Visitation will be held on Sunday morning, February 3 at 10:00 am followed by funeral services at 11:30 am at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home in Wharton, Texas.
