Robert Edward Kallas, 80, of Wharton, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at a Bastrop nursing center following an extended illness. He was born on January 14, 1938 in Wharton to the late Anton Joe and Mary Theresa Holesovsky Kallas. Bob was raised in the Crescent area and graduated from Crescent High School, where he participated in sports and FFA. He later attended and graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelors’ Degree in Mathematics and a Masters’ in Education. He was a teacher in the Houston ISD, the El Campo ISD and following retirement, Wharton County Junior College. He married Sandra D. Mueller on February 28, 1997. He enjoyed hunting, playing the Czech game of TAROKS with family and friends, was an avid reader, and generously shared produce from his vegetable garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by in death by his first wife, Merle Jean Kallas, his sister, Gladys Treybig and brother, Raymond Kallas. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sandra Mueller Kallas; brother in law: Walter Treybig, sister in law: Pat Kallas; nieces and nephews: Ray Kallas and wife, Felicia, Julie Hart and husband, Hale, Brenda Jetelina and husband, Randall, Walter Treybig and wife, Cindy, Tessie Dorr and husband, Frank, John Treybig and wife, Ingrid and Michelle Treybig; 5 special children of his heart, and their children and grandchildren. He was a quiet man, generous and loyal to friends and family and will be missed by many. Following cremation, Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Wharton with Rev. Kelly Krone officiating.
