Robert Louis Kopecky
April 24, 1938 ~ June 4, 2021
Robert Kopecky, 83, of Wharton, passed away on June 4, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 24, 1938 in Magnet Texas to the late Emil and Mary Michulka Kopecky.
Robert was a lifelong resident of Wharton and graduated from Wharton High School. After high school, he proudly served our country in the United States Army and earned an Honorable Discharge. Robert worked for Florida Gas as a compressor mechanic for many years. He enjoyed fishing, making sausage and teaching others how to make sausage, making bar b que with friends and family, and watching the multitude of birds he fed at his house. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Georgia Helmcamp, Viola Luchak, Martha Kopecky, Joe, Jimmy, and Albert Kopecky.
Robert is survived by his sister, Mary Matcek and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 10, after 5 pm to 6 p.m with a rosary recited at 6pm at Wharton Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal will be held on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the American Legion Post 87 and VFW post 4474 providing military honors.
