Reflections of Life Reverend Robert L. See January 15, 1932---November 8, 2022 “I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 On January 15, 1932, in Iago, Texas, a precious boy named Robert L. See, was born to the parents Mary and Tom See. Eventually, Robert became known as R.L. Robert (R. L.) accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized and united with Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Iago, Texas and eventually united with Shiloh Baptist Church in Boling, Texas. While attending Shiloh, Robert was ordained as a deacon and was a member of the Freemasons. Reverend Robert was raised with his two brothers Elroy and Cornelius (Nitty) and two younger twin sisters Ve Ella and De Ella. He attended public school in Boling, Texas where he played football and ran track. For many years until his health began to fail, Robert’s favorite hobby was playing dominoes. He felt that he was the best domino player in this area. Rev. Robert worked 40 plus years in the construction business at various industrial/chemical plants in the Freeport-Lake Jackson, Bay City, Old Ocean, and Victoria areas. He eventually became a general laborer foreman while working for H. B. Zachary at Brown & Root nuclear plant in Bay City. Through the course of many years, he hired and transported men from the Wharton and Boling area to work at the various industrial and chemical plants. In 1949, Rev. Robert married his high school sweetheart Gladys Davis. Their union produced seven children, however in 1972 they divorced. In 1973 he married Helen Phillips and they raised six children together. Robert worked very hard and was successful in financially supporting Gladys and their seven children while they were married, and Helen when he was married to her along with their six children. Later in life, he met and married Pearline Sparks. They were together for several years but eventually the marriage also ended in divorce. All three ex-wives preceded Robert in death. On November 8, 2022, Rev. Robert answered the Master’s call and transitioned peacefully from earth to Glory. Preceding him in death were his son, Robert; his parents Mary and Tom See; brothers Elroy and Cornelius; and step-daughter Johnna Gray.
