Rosemary Prochaska, 77, of Wharton, TX, passed away on Sunday morning, April 1, 2018 in a Hillje nursing home. Rosemary was born on December 10, 1940, to the late Ben and Rosie Salas, in Bay City, TX. Rosemary was raised in Wharton and Boling area and is a graduate of Boling High School. She married Frank Prochaska on June 24, 1962 and they had 37 happy years at the time of his passing on June 3, 2000. Rosemary was a devout Catholic and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and Holy Family Quilters. In addition to her parents and husband, Frank; she was preceded in death by her brothers: Armand Salas, Carl Salas and Mike Salas. Left to mourn her loss are her daughters: Dawn Prochaska of Wharton, and Deborah Harrison and husband, John of Victoria; son: Dale Frank Prochaska and wife, Dayna of Early; sisters: Sandra Stavinoha of Hillje and Elaine Broll of New Gulf; brothers: Wayne Salas and wife, Carolyn of Lufkin, Paul Salas and wife, Joyce of College Station, Ray Salas and wife, Peggy of New Gulf; grandchildren: Karli Seymour, Kaylee and Trey Ferguson, Will Prochaska, Ethan Prochaska, Seth Harrison, Jacob Harrison and Blaine Harrison along with numerous nieces and nephews and close family friends. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, April 6 starting at 5 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 p.m. led by Catholic Daughters. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday, April 7 at 12 noon with Father Bob Knippenberg officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Dementia Research or Holy Family Building Fund.
