Ruby Halbert

Ruby Walzel Halbert   Ruby Walzel Halbert passed away Monday, January 14th, 2019 in an Eagle Lake nursing center following a lengthy illness, at the age of 95.  She was born in Beasley, July 25th, 1923 to Emil and Emila Wazel. Ruby attended school in Beasley, graduating from Beasley High School.  She worked for Elliot Company for 35 years as a secretary to the president of the company.  Ruby married Sam Halbert on September 3rd, 1948 in Rosenberg. They both worked in Houston and in 1966 they moved to Bayou Vista in Galveston.  They commuted to Houston daily.  Upon retirement, the Halberts decided to make their residence in East Bernard next door to Wilfred and Jeanette Rejsek.  In 1980 Ruby retired and moved to East Bernard. Sam retired in 1982.  Ruby enjoyed camping with her friends, taking her great nephews camping, and bird watching.  Ruby is preceded in death by all her family except two nieces, Jeanette Rejsek, Cherryll Wazel Frick, and one nephew, Bobby Walzel.    Ruby’s Funeral Service will be Friday, January 25th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in East Bernard.
