Steve William Parsutt, 100, of Matagorda, TX passed away at a Bay City hospital on August 24, 2018. He was born on February 14, 1918 in Palacios, Texas to the late Thomas Parsutt and Eva Gormey Parsutt. Steve was raised in the Palacios area and graduated from Palacios High School. He served our country honorably in the US Army Air Corp. He married Joyce Smith and she preceded him in death after 67 happy years of marriage. He was an owner operator of Parsutt’s Grocery in Matagorda. He was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed watching as well as playing baseball and traveled worldwide . He enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends. He was a 32nddegree Mason, Commissioner for the Port of Bay City navigation District, an active member of the Palacios and Matagorda Volunteer Fire Dept, Matagorda Methodist Church Board Member and Matagorda ISD School Board Member. In addition to his parents and his wife, Joyce, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Karen Parsutt Countz and a sister: Jessie Buller. He is survived by his daughters: Beverly Parsutt Thompson of Bay City and Stephanie Parsutt Rula and husband, Paul of Dallas, Texas; son in law: Tommy Countz of Matagorda; grandchildren: Stephen Countz, Emily K. Thompson, Chapman A Thompson, Kelly Rula Oppenheim, John Rula, Kristie King Caviness; great grandchildren: Maci Countz, Hunter Countz, Luke Countz, and Lissa Kate Countz, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Matagorda Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. with Rev Ann Worrell officiating. Private Burial Service at Matagorda Cemetery. Honorary Pall Bearers will be members of the Matagorda Masonic Lodge No. 7. Services under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
