Steven Dale Zimmerman was born 1 December 1964 in Wharton, Texas, to Elmer and Willadeen Zimmerman, the youngest of four brothers. Steve died on 11 April 2021, at the age of 56.
Steve was raised in Boling and graduated from Boling High School in 1983. He married Lisa Carol McEntire on 26 January 1985, and they made their lifelong home in Brazoria. They had one daughter, Savannah Asher Zimmerman.
After high school, Steve attended Wharton County Junior College and then got his Plant Operator’s License from Brazosport Community College. He spent his career as a plant operator and retired from Shintech, Inc.
He was a member of Brazoria Church of Christ.
Steve was a lifelong patient of the late Dr. Denton Cooley who did the heart surgery that allowed Steve to lead a happy, productive and active life that included fishing, bowling and dancing.
Steve was known for his love of all people. He did not know a stranger and was a friend to everyone. Steve was a good-hearted, hard-working, simple, honest man.
He is survived by his wife Lisa, daughter Savannah, and beloved grandson Jasper Quentin Webb. He is also survived by his father, Elmer Zimmerman of Boling, his mother-in-law, Alma McEntire of Brazoria,three brothers: David and wife Mona of Houston, Kenneth and Bianca Vela of Boling, and Glenn and wife Maggie of Boling along with numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother Willadeen Zimmerman and father-in-law Billy McEntire.
Honorary pallbearers are Eugene Hanks and Eddie McCarthy.
Visitation with the family will be at Wharton Funeral Home at 9:00 am on Thursday 15 April with a service following in the chapel at 10:00.
