Thomas “Ed” Edward Owens

Ed Owens, 64, of Wharton, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at a Sugar Land hospital following a sudden illness.  He was born in Scottsboro, Alabama on June 10, 1955, a son of Lema Lorene Williams Owens and the late William Bill Owens.

Ed was raised in Alabama and later, moved with his family to the Bryan area where he completed his education at Bryan High School.  Ed married Ellen McNeil on February 10, 1973 in Bryan.  He worked as a welder at a chemical plant for many years. He loved to hunt and fish, be around his family, spoil his grandchildren and pick on everybody else. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jimmy Owens and Billy Owens.

Ed is survived by his wife, Ellen Owens of Wharton, mother, Lema Lorene Owens, sons, Edward “Lee” Owens and wife, Stacey of Wharton and Michael “David” Owens and wife, Casey of Bremond, sisters, Marie Hurley of Carlos, Linda Crenshaw of Bryan, brothers, Dewayne Owens and wife, Cindy of Bryan and Sammy Owens and wife, Tiffany of Bryan, his precious grandchildren, Cody Lee Owens, Kaitlyn Owens and Gracie Owens and many friends and relatives.

Following cremation, memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 11 am at the Chapel of Wharton Funeral Home.
