Thomas Valdez, Sr., 54, of Sugar Land, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018 following a lengthy illness. He was born on October 12, 1963 in New Gulf, TX to Miguel and Maria Valdez. Thomas was the middle son of 5 boys. The family eventually moved to Beaumont and he was an honor graduate of Forrest Park High School. Thomas met the love of his life, Ann Rubio and they married on March 5, 1992. They were blessed with 4 children, Thomas, Joseph, Daniel and Elizabeth. Thomas was good with computers and worked for BMC Software for many years then operated his own company as an IT consultant. He enjoyed watching his Dallas Cowboys, reading and politics. He is preceded in death by his father, Miguel Valdez. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Ann; sons: Thomas Valdez, Jr. of Sugar Land, Joseph Valdez and wife, Hannah of Sugar Land, Daniel Valdez of Sugar Land; daughter: Elizabeth Valdez of Sugar Land; mother: Maria Valdez; brothers: Mike C. Valdez and wife, Monica of Sugar Land, David Valdez and wife, Debra of Boling, Martin S. Valdez and wife, Cynthia of Sugar Land and John Valdez and wife, Lisa of Humble; grandchildren: Olivia and Lilian Valdez. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 5 starting at 5 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Mission in Boling, TX with Father Bob Knippenberg officiating.
