Wendel Clayton “Clay” Hlavinka passed away peacefully on May 4, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Clay was born on August 17, 1966 to Linhart V. Hlavinka, and Eva Melancon Hlavinka Schroeder.
He was a 1984 graduate of Boling High School and a 1988 graduate of Texas State Technical Institute. After serving in the Army Reserves, he went to work as an instrumentation and controls technician in the petrochemical industry for over 20 years. Clay was blessed with a thirst for knowledge and a willingness to help anyone with any problem. He had the ability to design, build, and troubleshoot whatever he set his mind to. He was preceded in death by his father, L.V. Hlavinka.
Clay is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 30 years Kimberly, his son Lance and wife, Laura; his daughter Kindra; his mother, Eva and step-father Charlie Schroeder; his sister: LaCricia, his brother: Carl and wife, Millie, as well as nieces and nephews. His “Get ‘R Done” attitude, and long-winded jokes will truly be missed.
Visitation services will be held at Wharton Funeral Home on Wednesday May 8that 5pm. Funeral services will also be held at Wharton Funeral Home on Thursday May 9that 3pm.
