William “Bill” Frank Buford
May 20, 1963 – March 7, 2025
William “Bill” Frank Buford, a devoted husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer on March 7, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on May 20, 1963, in Houston, Texas, Bill lived a life rich with passion and commitment to family and community.
Bill was known for his unwavering love for his family, especially his wife, Rae Ane Buford, his daughter, Jessica Buford, and his son, Joe Buford. His legacy is one of kindness, support, and joy in the lives of those around him. He cherished being involved in his children's lives, never wanting to be left out of their adventures and achievements.
An accomplished contractor, Bill’s hands were skilled in his craft, but his heart was equally adept at nurturing the talents of young people. He deeply engaged with the youth, particularly through agricultural mechanics competitions and tractor technician competitions at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and in both Fort Bend County and Austin County. His dedication to mentoring emerged not just from a professional passion but from a genuine desire to see young minds thrive in their pursuits. Memories of Bill, a man who raced motocross in his younger years and loved fishing and camping that remain a source of inspiration for those who knew him. He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis, he was adamant about his daily devotionals, and it was amazing to see his faith grow during his illness.
During his illness, Bill discovered solace in the simple joys of life, finding comfort and peace in adult coloring books. This new hobby was a testament to his ability to embrace creativity, even in challenging times. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Arnold Buford, and grandparents, William and Leona Luczak and Lester and Mildred Buford.
Bill leaves behind his devoted wife, Rae Ann Buford of Wallis, children Jessica Buford and Joe Buford both of Wallis, his mother, (Dorothy) Jean Buford Harris and her husband, Glenn; sisters Charlotte Howard and husband Kelvin, Christine Spray and husband, Dave and Traci Chiappetta and husband, Tom, niece and nephews are Kara Howard, Kyle Howard, and Jackson Chiappetta. He will be remembered not only for his contributions to his community but also for his larger-than-life spirit and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
Memorial services for Bill Buford will be held on April 5, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Wharton Funeral Home with Deacon Jerome Losack officiating.
As we reflect on the memories shared, we honor a man whose love and enthusiasm for life will continue to inspire us all.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Ag Mechanics Committee to continue Bill’s legacy of fostering the next generation of mechanics and farmers.
Bill’s light will continue to shine through the lives he touched and the loving memories he leaves behind.
