William Raymond Davis

William Raymond Davis,86, of Wharton passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 in a Richmond hospital.  He was born on October 16, 1933 in Harlingen, TX to the late Floyd Davis and Virginia Ireland Davis.

He attended schools in the Hearne Mumford area.  He then served our country honorably in the US Army.  He worked as a car salesman.  He married, Wanda June Moore in March of 1959 and together they raised 2 daughters.   He liked to work in his yard tending his flower beds and spending time with his family.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Davis; granddaughter, Shelby Andrew and brothers, Jack Davis, Henry “Red” Davis and Paul Davis.

He is survived by his daughters, Sheila Welling of Wharton and Darla Wendt of League City; grandchildren; Derek Baker and wife, Jennifer, Zachary Andrew, Kristi Ebbecke, Laci Moran, Brittany Danko and Jordan McCarty and husband, Bandy; 12 great grandchildren.

Following cremation, him and his wife will be buried at Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
