William “Bill” Randolph Hobbs
William “Bill” Hobbs, 83, of Wharton passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at his daughters’ house in Winnsboro, Texas. He was born on August 23, 1941, in Butler, GA to the late Willie Frank and Eva Loraine Cotney Hobbs.
Bill was raised in Butler, Georgia and Macon, Georgia graduating from high school there. He later attended Wharton County Junior College in Wharton, Texas. Bill married Carla Jean Holton on January 31, 1969, in Macon, GA. Bill served our country proudly in the United States Navy for four years on the U.S.S. Bayfield before enlisting in the US Army for 12 years and finally the Texas National Guard for the remaining 2 years. He worked for the city of Wharton for many years, as the Animal Control Officer, in the sanitation Department, street maintenance and parks department. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, staying active in the community. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Diana Kay Hobbs-Gaultney and half-brothers, Jim Campbell and Frankie Hobbs.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carla Hobbs of Wharton, daughter, Candace Hobbs-Bedynek of Winnsboro, son Randolph Eugene Hobbs of Alice, grandsons, Zachary Michael (Katie) Bedynek and Nickolas Greidan Bedynek and great grandson, Hayden Randolph Bedynek.
Honoring his wishes, public services will not be held.
